Critical care also known as intensive care is a branch of medicine that is concerned with serious life threatening conditions. To treat this condition it needs a special and sophisticated life supporting and monitoring.
The surgeons or physicians with training in critical care are known as intensivists in U.S. Sometimes, after serious surgeries doctor may shift patient to the intensive monitoring unit for special care. Usually surgeons shift only those patients to the critical care unit who has good chance of surviving when kept under proper supervision and critical care. So, once the patient is into ICU, we can observe a lot of improvement in his condition.
A person under intensive care needs support to stabilize hypertension or hypotension, respiratory problems or organ failure. So that he/she can overcome the problem as soon as possible. There are certain equipments that are necessary for critical care such as ventilator, monitoring equipment, suction pumps, antibiotics etc.
